Spanning a period of over 50 years, the career of Billy Akin has involved participation in most every facet of the Insurance Industry. After working in various areas of operation, he held positions of senior management and member of the Board of Directors of an insurance company. Mr. Akin’s experience also includes production, underwriting, and management in an Excess and Surplus Lines general agency. He is licensed as an independent insurance agent for Property, Casualty, Life and Health Insurance. The last 15 years of consulting and expert witness work in over 130 cases has broadened the experience of Mr. Akin in the insurance and legal arenas.
Mr. Akin holds the designations of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) as well as Associate in Risk Management (ARM). A graduate of David Lipscomb University, he has attended the Owen Graduate School of Management of Vanderbilt University and various insurance-related seminars and courses. He is a certified mediator and faculty member of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America Virtual University. He has published several articles and participated in seminars and webcasts on insurance-related issues.
Membership in civic and insurance industry organizations, as well as continued contact with trade press, and association with agency and company personnel help keep Mr. Akin current in the field of insurance.
